You work on your computer during the day as well as night you might notice that if your room is lit by daylight during the day then by night monitor looks too bright and it hurts your eyes unless you tune the brightness/contrast ratio down.

F.lux takes care of the problem of different looking monitor screens during the day and night. It makes the color, brightness of your computer’s display adjust automatically to the time of day, warm at night and like daylight during daytime.
Basically the medical implications is that bright light from your monitor disrupts your brain of its day-night and sleep-awake cycle because of the colour (temperature) of your monitor’s lighting.
1. Click the f.lux Windows download link.
2. Run the installer and the f.lux settings page will appear.
3. Enter your location and select the type of lighting in your room at night.

2. Choose "Open with Stuffit Expander" and click OK.
3. Copy the "Flux" app to your Applications folder.
4. Double click the "Flux" application in your Finder window.
5. Enter your location, and select the type of lighting in your room at night.
6. Select Start f.lux at login and click Done.
Linux users can check out Redshift which does the same job as F.lux.
After installation you are asked of your geographic location and type of lighting in the room – tungsten halogen, fluorescent or daylight. Based on the info. it calculates exactly when the sun sets in your area and adjust the color temperature of the screen to simulate the lighting of the room.

I tried using F.lux for a few days I can’t tell when the warming change appears. Its a slow and natural transition, which I liked. It can also be temporarily disabled from menu to work on colour-sensitive projects.
